Three people with experience of different lung conditions were invited to speak as part of a European Respiratory Society (ERS) online course, titled ‘How to communicate effectively with patients’.

This was one of the key priorities that emerged from our patient priorities lung cancer project and they were included in the first talk below from Tom Simpson, a member of our patient advisory group for lung cancer who talked about his own experiences of communication with healthcare professionals, both positive and negative,

The modules ran across several weeks and included live lectures, patient testimonials and case presentations focusing on how communication skills could be improved and how to deal with difficult ethical situations.

You can watch the patient perspective talks from the online communication course at the following links:

ELF helps to find and support people to participate in courses so that professionals can understand more about the realities facing people living with lung conditions.
