WALCE (Women Against Lung Cancer in Europe) is holding two events in partnership with ELF and other organisations at the end of May.
At the end of May, World Women Against Lung Cancer in Europe (WALCE) is holding two events in Brussels in partnership with ELF, the European Respiratory Society (ERS), the European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention (ENSP), AIPO (Italian Association of Hospital Pneumologists) and Insieme Contro il Cancro.
The event, organised to mark World No Tobacco Day 2017, will focus on smoking prevention and cessation.
On 30 and 31 May, members of the public will be able to visit a giant cigarette structure, where doctors and smoking cessation experts will offer lung function testing and advice on lung health. The structure is a physical representation of the difficulties of coming out of the tunnel of smoking.
Then, on 31 May, a high-level event will be hosted at the European Parliament from 1.00pm–3.00pm by Gilles Pargneaux MEP. The event will look at smoking prevention and tobacco dependence treatment, as well as at the implementation of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) Article 14 across Europe.
